For Today – Take Your Power Back.

When we are facing down our shame, our fears, and the really difficult “stuff” that gets buried deep down, it can get overwhelming and damn near terrifying. The emotions, the images, the sounds, and all of the memories come crashing down, seemingly surrounding us from every mentally experienced angle.

A trick I learned to start taking my power back was to start saying it out loud and name it for what it was, for example – sexual abuse, mental abuse, emotional abuse, and/or narcissistic abuse. Then when I started to feel a little more in control, grounded stronger in the present moment of now, and not “that” place, I started to own the emotions that it always kicked up within me. I was real about how impacted me, be it severely, subconsciously, self-sabotaging, or otherwise.

I found that slowly, but definitely, I was starting to feel better, stronger, having gained clarity and perspective. The default emotional triggers became weaker, each time I immediately said, “You are ____, and I recognize this for what it is.”

See if you can take these steps for yourself today. Remember, each step counts, and will lead you eventually to the other side of this place of survival, and into the land of thriving.

Love to all of you kickass warriors,
